We would like to make your stay in Lauda-Königshofen as agreeable as possible. Whether you only want to relax, or want to actively explore the region on bicycle or foot, or rather visit the cultural highlights, we shall gladly provide you with all the relevant information.
For gourmets and wine connoisseurs, the wine town of Lauda-Königshofen holds all kinds of surprises in store for you. For generations, the local wine-growing estates have been cultivating well-tried viniculture traditions of superior quality. Distinguished by numerous accolades, the winery cooperative Beckstein is one of the very great wine producers in Germany.
Guided hikes on the wine nature trail, cellar inspections, wine tasting, wine seminars and cheerful wine festivals allow you to rapidly become a connoisseur yourself. Taste the wine specialties from the Tauber Valley, for instance the domestic vine variety Tauberschwarz, in one of our traditionally cosy pubs. While you're at it, try eating on of the typical specialities made of greenwheat. You will find that there is much to discover in the kitchen and cellar of the region.
Exciting history at every turn – this is also Lauda-Königshofen. The Middle Ages, the Peasants' War, Gothic and Baroque eras have all left behind numerous traces. A number of churches contain unique gems, the mediaeval city fortification with the "Upper gate" and "Pulverturm" relics in Lauda, ancient Tauber bridges with sacred statuary and shrines, stately half-timbered houses as well as the historical "Goten" and the "High House" in Königshofen are well worth a visit.
The artistic Circle Gallery "das auge" invites the interested public to exhibitions that change monthly. Classical concerts, author readings, the successful series "Jazz in the Aula" and many current events ensure an interesting and entertaining time, and round off a diversified program of cultural events.
